About Us
Church History
Our church has a rich history dating back to May 23rd, 1885, when it was organized by two dedicated individuals, including Manley Bright. From humble beginnings in a one-room log schoolhouse, our congregation has grown and evolved over the years. The first pastor, Rev. A. D. Bowers, led a small group of 11 charter members. By 1888, we had joined the Greenville Baptist Association and erected our first church building.
In 1907, a larger church was built, thanks to the generosity of Peter Sudduth, who donated the land and Lemuel Crain who donated the cemetery plot, and the hard work of our members who provided free labor and materials. Over the years, we have continued to expand and improve our facilities, including building a parsonage in 1950 after Rosco Pittman deeded 1.34 acres to the church. The activity building was built in the late 1950’s to provide additional resources.
Under the guidance of Rev. Dan Greer in 1946, our church experienced significant growth and spiritual prosperity with 300 members in 1948.
Despite the challenges we faced our faith and community spirit have remained strong. A lightning strike in July of 2023 burned the church along with many of the historical records. This did not stop Camp Creek from being faithful and continuing to thank God. The first service in the new church building was December 22nd, 2024. We dedicated the Church on January 26, 2025.
